Built above the MTA Pitkin railyard in the late 1960s as part of the Mitchell-Lama housing program, Linden Plaza first welcomed residents in 1971. The property features 1,527 apartments across five towers and 32 townhouses. Camber Property Group is leading the redevelopment of Linden Plaza to preserve affordable housing in East New York, Brooklyn for another 50 years. The renovation is scheduled for completion in 2029.
The large-scale renovation of Linden Plaza will address all aspects of the complex including, but not limited to, upgrading apartments and common areas, replacing or repairing building systems and mechanicals – from plumbing and heating to roofs, facades and terraces – and repairing parking structures and columns supporting the plaza deck.
Renovations to Linden Plaza apartments include new flooring, new lighting and upgraded heating distribution systems, as well as freshly painted walls, new electrical outlets, new oak doors with new lever handles, and new closet doors with new fixtures that open up to new closet shelves. Kitchens are fully remodeled with new stainless steel appliances, new quartz countertops, new subway tile backsplash and new cabinetry. Bathrooms are fully remodeled with new plumbing, new lighting, new medicine cabinets and new white quartz tiled floors.
Aging in Place (AIP) homes will see specific modifications during renovations. In the kitchens, there will be lever faucet controls, cabinet handles, tasking light at sink, stove and work areas, glow-in-the-dark light switches and rocker style light switches. In the bathroom, AIP homes will see grab bars in the shower or bathtub and toilet areas, slip resistant flooring, an accessible toilet, a toilet paper holder, glow-in-the-dark light switches, rocker style light switches, an accessible vanity and medicine cabinet, a hand-held adjustable shower head, a bathtub seat and a lever handle.
