Established in 1953, Edenwald Houses is one of the oldest and largest public housing developments in New York City and the largest public housing development in the Bronx.
In 2020, NYCHA included Edenwald in the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) Program to provide building and apartment improvements, and enhanced property management, public safety and social services.
NYCHA and Camber worked closely with residents to design every aspect of Edenwald’s transformation.
Inside, kitchens and bathrooms will be renovated. Apartments will be fully painted, new energy efficient lighting will be provided in all rooms, and flooring will be replaced.
Outside, public spaces will be reimagined with new planted areas, basketball courts, sitting areas, dog parks, playgrounds, and places set aside for seniors.
PACT represents a significant opportunity to bolster comfort, security, and pride of place for Edenwald residents—while keeping rents affordable and preserving tenant protections.
